IMPORTANT NOTICE: For the 2023-2024 Academic Year ELP Programs, the Fort Ross Conservancy will be implementing changes to the curriculum and experience of the ELP Program at the Fort Ross State Historic Park. These changes are in keeping with the California Department of Parks and Recreation Reexamining Our Past Initiative. This initiative is part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order N-15-19 to examine and address the State’s historical treatment of Native Americans and their place in California. Recreation Reexamining Our Past Initiative.
The changes to the existing program will reflect the Governor's and State Parks’ effort to respectfully portray the past, acknowledging Native Americans as well as the history and natural resources of the place. To these aims, we will be removing role play and costumes from the programs.
